The Department of Neuroscience & Pharmacology has an opening for a Research Technician. Depending upon the qualifications of the final candidate they will be hired into one of the below “job titles.” Specifically, either position will investigate the role of glutamate receptor signaling in the brain. The lab mainly uses mouse models, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology techniques such as western blotting and cloning, electrophysiology and mouse behavioral techniques to answer questions in neuroscience and pharmacology. Experience in these techniques, particularly molecular biology and immunohistochemistry, is preferable.


This position is 100% grant funded. 


This position will work Monday to Friday; 8am-4:30pm-depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work.

Research Laboratory Technician I
Summary:
Under general supervision, provides a wide variety of laboratory testing and technical lab support for a research facility. Requires knowledge of the processes/procedures in testing, documenting experiments, maintaining laboratory notebook, analyzing data, and reporting using complex statistical computer software.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in related field of Science required;
Bachelor's Degree in related Science field preferred;
0-1 year's research lab experience

Research Laboratory Technician II
Summary:
Under general supervision, provides a wide variety of moderately complex laboratory testing and technical lab support for a research facility. Requires knowledge of the processes/procedures in testing, documenting experiments, maintaining laboratory notebook, analyzing data, and reporting using complex statistical computer software.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field of Science required;
2-4 year's research lab experience

Research Laboratory Technician III:
Summary:
Provides senior-level technical lab support by performing a broad range of complex laboratory and research related tasks. Acts as specialist on laboratory methods and equipment functions. Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency. Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions. Evaluates experiment results using complex statistical and multivariate analysis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field of Science required;
5+ year's research lab experience

Research Associate
Summary:
Performs basic or applied research of a limited scope, primarily using existing theories and methods. Assists in the interpretation and publication of results and grants. Assists in initiating, executing and completing the clinical research and experiments. Prepares and writes research papers, presentations, grant proposals, etc. Primary responsibility is ensuring that the research is complete.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in related field of Science.
1-2 year's research experience.
 


 

Research Laboratory Technician I
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in related field of Science required;
Bachelor's Degree in related Science field preferred;
0-1 year's research lab experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Understanding of research methods, laboratory techniques, and care of laboratory equipment;
Ability to interpret data, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;
Detail oriented;
Analytical skills;
Strong work ethic, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently;
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs


Research Laboratory Technician II
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field of Science required;
2-4 year's research lab experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

5+ year's research lab experience

Strong ability to interpret data and to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
Strong work ethic, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs

Research Associate:
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in related field of Science.
1-2 year's research experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Organizational skills required.
Analytical skills required.
